Gamma Gas Canister (Weapon Upgrade)

This is both an upgrade and an item. Together, they modify a blaster to use High-Density Ultra-Pure Gamma-Spectrum gas instead of ordinary tibanna gas. The bolts produced by exciting this gas do not radiate visible light, making it very difficult to determine where the shots are coming from.

The upgrade modifies the power system of the weapon; more power than normal is needed to excite HDUPGS gas than ordinary tibanna gas. As such, the weapon now requires twice as many cells, packs, or whatever power source it normally uses. The upgrade costs 1,000 credits.

The gas itself comes in canisters which are rare, restricted to military use only, and cost 1,000 credits each. Mounting such a canister replaces the existing tibanna canister. Most blasters are not equipped to swap gas canisters readily--the process requires tools and several minutes. However, this upgrade allows for quick swapping (swift action, once replacement canister is in hand) of gas canisters. The extra power cells/packs are not used when ordinary tibanna is loaded.

While ordinary tibanna canisters last for many firings, HDUPGS cannot be condensed nearly as much; the canister must be replaced for every 25 shots fired.

Effects:

• Removes penalties to Stealth when sniping. Stealth check is an immediate action. (Normal: you automatically lose concealment from Stealth after firing a weapon; however, you may re-hide as a move action, with a -10 penalty)
